Tips for roaming with a Sprint provided GSM or
Japan Phone
-
While overseas, if your handset displays a message such as “Network Not Found”
or “Network Unavailable” you may have to manually select a network. This can be
done by toggling through the phone menu to “Network Selection”. Once there,
manually select an alternate network.
-
The Sprint Worldwide solution provides the ability to make and receive calls as
well as have access to voicemail throughout the world. Data services are
available on select networks, however not all features are available.
-
If your SIM Card or GSM phone is lost or stolen you must report the loss
immediately to avoid being held responsible for fraudulent charges. To report a
lost or stolen SIM Card or GSM phone, call Sprint Worldwide Customer Service.
-
Rental Phone Return - If you rented a GSM or Japan phone, you must return your
rental phone by the end of the rental period. Failure to return the phone
within three (3) days from the end of your rental period will subject you to
late charges.
-
IMPORTANT! Keep Your SIM Card
Dialing
-
International calls, including calls back to the United States, are simplified
with the "+" key dialing feature on your Sprint-provided GSM phone.
-
Press and hold the “+” key on your GSM Phone until a “+” appears on the phone
display. (On Nokia phones: Press “+” twice quickly for the “+” to appear on the
display)

Calling other Countries: Dial “+,” country code, area code and
phone number. Example: Calling American Embassy in France from Germany: “+” 33
(Country code for France) 1 43 12 22 22
-
Calling Locally within Another Country: Dial the same as if
you were dialing from a landline phone in that country. “+” key is not
required.
Steps for accessing voicemail while in GSM areas
-
The Voicemail box of your GSM phone is the same as the one for your Sprint PCS
or Nextel phone.
-
Press Menu and then scroll to Messages to access the Message Center.
-
Scroll to Voicemail and press CALL. (*Note: If you hear the message “Please
enter the number of the subscriber you wish to call,” enter your 10-digit
wireless phone number.)
-
Once your recorded message plays, press and enter your password at the prompt.
Tip: Tell people calling you to enter your wireless phone number if they hear
the general greeting or to press # if they hear a request for your password.
