Browsing the Internet
Downloading large images will significantly degrade your
Internet experience.
-
Configure your browser to stop downloading images automatically. Why pay for
banners, logos, and advertisements you don't need?
-
Browse the Internet through common, fast-loading web portals like
www.google.com or www.yahoo.com.
Checking and Sending Emails
Large attachments will really slow you down. You can't
control what people send you, but you can follow these tips:
-
Use an IMAP mail server. It allows you to download just header information, so
you can choose if you want to download the entire message.
-
Use an email program that lets you specify the maximum message size you can
download.
-
Don't copy yourself on your emails. You can configure your email to place a
copy of your sent message on your local machine, so you don't have to download
your message again the next time you check your email.
-
To reduce the size of your outbound messages, configure your email to exclude
original messages in your replies.
