Roadpost ready for prime time with new catalog of BGAN
subscription offerings
Roadpost leading the industry with comprehensive packages to
address the next revolution in broadband.
Toronto, ON (December 5, 2005) – Roadpost Inc., a leader of global voice and
data communications solutions for the remote worker, announces that it is ready
to lead the market with a new range of products and services for the mobile
user with the upcoming launch of Inmarsat’s BGAN (Broadband Global Area
Network) satellite service in December. This new network, which allows for the
delivery of broadband data to remote locations over satellite, is a concept
that will revolutionize communications in the field for remote workers in a
wide range of industries, from oil and gas exploration and the military to
journalism and emergency aid workers.
Inmarsat’s BGAN is the world’s first mobile communications service of any kind
to provide both voice and broadband data simultaneously through a single, truly
portable device on a global basis. It is also the first mobile communications
service to offer guaranteed data rates on demand. BGAN will be initially
accessible in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Coverage for North and
South America is planned for mid 2006.
Morris Shawn, president and CEO of Roadpost, says, “We are very excited about
the launch of Inmarsat’s BGAN service in December, and I can assure our
customers that Roadpost will be among the first to offer a selection of
terminals and affordable subscription packages that can be tailored to suit
individual customer needs. We are ready to hit the ground running. We have long
been leaders in global communications for the mobile worker and BGAN is
definitely a service that is geared to the types of customers we serve.”
Roadpost plans to offer a wide variety of terminals with varying data
transmission speeds and robustness, depending on environmental and transmission
requirements. BGAN terminals can be carried as easily as a laptop and be used
to create a fully functional broadband mobile office in minutes. Terminals are
available for single users or small teams, and can be configured to accommodate
WiFi, BlueTooth, Ethernet and more. BGAN supports the latest IP services, as
well as traditional circuit-switched, voice and data; and can integrate
seamlessly with corporate networks.
Shawn adds that BGAN offers infinite possibilities to remote users because it
enables data transmissions of up to half a megabit over a satellite network in
a highly portable, easy to use form. “While standard offices are used to
broadband, it’s never been available in the field. With BGAN, users can send
voice, photos, video images and data from virtually any location in the world.
A BGAN terminal can be connected to a laptop, server or WiFi router so remote
users can easily create a network – even if they’re in the middle of the
desert. It’s a remarkable communications breakthrough that will change the way
remote workers operate today – and we are well prepared to help our customers
get up to speed as quickly as possible.”
